Think #3

Bluesky

  • Ever since Barrel-chested Barnacle bought Twitter, users have noted an increase in the amount of right-leaning content they see. Results of the recent presidential election have brought even more right-wing tweets, and trolls, to many people’s feeds. To avoid these posts, a large number of left-leaning people are leaving Twitter and migrating to Bluesky.
  • I made a Bluesky account a few days ago, after my friend Glassblowing Grantwriter mentioned its similarities to Twitter- Bluesky looks and functions almost the same. One of the key differences is that it’s decentralized. From my understanding, this means that instead of 1 master algorithm made by a small group of developers deciding what appears in people’s feeds, there will be a bunch of algorithms built by a variety of developers, and users can pick which algorithms to use. Theoretically, this allows users to have more control over the content they see.
  • I understand the reasoning behind leaving Twitter. I’m going to keep my account active because there are still some great memes appearing in my feed. Also, I think it’s useful to see what conservative users are posting. It’s never good to be in a partisan echo chamber.

Farts/farting

  • Sometimes you know when a fart is going to smell, and you can plan accordingly. But there are times when a fart deceives you. It comes out easily enough, but it stinks, and everyone around you can probably smell it. Especially if you ate some Taco Bell- those refried beans are potent. A power move in this situation would be to fess up to farting and apologize, but I’ve never witnessed anyone do that, and I’ve never been bold enough to do it myself.
  • Farting quietly is really hard. I think most people clench their buttcheeks to control the speed of gas coming out to try to make farts softer. Elite farters know that SPREADING your cheeks is the way to go. There’s less resistance and less ensuing sound.
  • Hair around your butthole makes farts less explosive. Only after you lose that hair do you realize how valuable it is.

Topo Chico

  • I like this stuff because the bottle looks cool, and it sits nicely in my hand. The actual sparkling water doesn’t taste any different than other sparkling waters.
  • In 2020, Consumer Reports tested the levels of polyfluoroalkyls (PFAs), which have been linked to cancer, in a range of bottled water products. Unfortunately, Topo Chico had the highest levels of PFAs out of the 47 products tested, significantly above the safe limit. Yikes. But also YOLO.
